Cure Thrift Item of the Day: Antique Table Lighter Disguised as an Antique Phone
At first glance, you look at this antique telephone and think… “Oh my gosh it’s so cool!”. But it gets even better, because it’s not a telephone AT ALL. It’s actually a table lighter, with a secret compartment for your candy cigarettes! Turn the dial and the candy cigarette dispenses! What?? Oh. Yes. But wait, we’re not finished…. it’s also a music box. Mind blowing.
Watch Bianca demonstrate how it works! (Oh, B… she’s so silly.)
It’ll be available at our 2nd Birthday Bash!
Adventures at Cure Thrift Shop: Getting Party Ready with Sustainable Party
Our 2nd birthday is inching closer, and Sustainable Party is donating the cups and plates for our wine and birthday treats! We invited Emily Doubilet and Jessica Holsey, owners of Sustainable Party, to show us how to get party ready.
We even gave them a sneak peek at some of the clothing we’ve been saving for our Birthday Party… check out that amazing sequined Alexander McQueen top (to be auctioned at the event).
As Emily says, “What better way to have a sustainable event than to re-use and recycle as much as you can.” So check out what amazing looks they put together, and the next time you go to or throw a party, go green with vintage or second hand clothing at Cure and partyware from Sustainable Party!
Save the date for our 2nd Birthday Party! July 23rd, 2010 5-9PM
Suspicious Package- Hummingbird (Emily’s bio-pop group which made it to number 3 on MTVmusic.com this past week!)
Little Boots- Remedy (Buffetlibre vs. Sidechains Remix)
Cure Crafts: Tulle Flower Headbands
Crazy headbands are in right now… with giant flowers, feathers, and more! Watch Sarah make some really cool tulle flower headbands out of things that have been donated to our store!
You can follow our step-by-step instructions to make one yourself, or stop by Cure and buy one from us! If you do decide to make it yourself… we’re still your one stop shop for the supplies.
Cure Thrift Shop 60 Second Cure: Painting a Rocker
Yes, this video is exactly what it sounds like. Our manager Justin painting a rocker. But it’s to the instrumental of T.I.’s Why You Wanna… and that makes it all sorts of amazing.
Spring Home & Fashion Event Preview: Sneak Peek From the Back Room
We don’t know if you’ve heard, but we’re expanding the clothing floor in time for the event. That back wall is going down… but until then, here’s a sneak peek of the vintage and designer Spring clothing that we’re saving back there!
Lots of colorful Spring colors, floral, and lace. Marc Jacob, Dior, DVF, Gucci, and Prada to name a few.
Watch the video and keep checking our blog for photos of some of the outfits we’ve pulled! AND don’t miss our 25%, 50%, and $15 Stuff a Bag sales before Spring Event!
p.s. or watch it for the awesome hair flipping at the end
Adventures at Cure Thrift Shop: Inspired by Rachel Zoe’s Wardrobe Essentials
Rachel Zoe posted her January “Not so Basic” Wardrobe Essentials, which inspired us to go through our own racks to find the pieces on her list. Check out Rachel’s post and see how we did!

New Year’s Eve falls on such a cold time of the year… but that doesn’t mean that you can’t look hot while you’re trying to stay warm. Fashion blogger, Sara Zucker, came by to show us looks for New Year’s Eve dressing in different cities. Check out what she puts together for New York, Boston, LA, Chicago, and even London!
Adventures at Cure Thrift Shop: Behind the Cure Thrift Photo Shoot
We had the pleasure of having Fred, of FJG Photography, shoot some amazing photos at Cure Thrift Shop. Mallory Blair makes another appearance in this adventure at Cure, along with our very own Ali, Sarah, and Bianca, modeling some fun, hip, and edgy looks pulled from the store.
Keep an eye out for when we post the photos!

Adventures at Cure Thrift Shop: Mallory’s Favorite Things
Mallory Blair (Paper TV Host and former MTVu VJ) stopped by to check out the embellished bustier we had in the store. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity for her to show us some of her thrift picks. Watch Mallory go through the racks for her holiday gift guide… to herself. She plays an organ, does the can-can, and even helps a customer make a dress diabetic chic.
